DMX Termination

DMX Termination with 110 Ohms Resistor

“Open ends” of DMX lines must be terminated. The 3-pin terminating plugs contain a 110Ω, 1/2W, resistor across pins 2 & 3.  and the 5-pin terminating plugs contain two 110Ω, 1/2W,  one resistor across pins 2 & 3, another resistor across pin 4 & 5.  The DMX terminator used on the last lighting fixture to terminate the DMX 512 signal and help prevent signal reflections and data errors. It can stops your DMX signal from bouncing back down the chain and getting messy.

DMX Adapter

DMX connectors with 3 pins and 5 pins must be connected by an adapter or adapter cable. such as 5-pin xlr male to 3-pin xlr female DMX lighting adapter、5 Pin DMX female to 3 Pin XLR male DMX Lighting Adapter and DMX adapter cables.

It is suitable for carrying the DMX512 digital data protocol, commonly used for stage lighting and effects equipment such as digital light controllers, consoles, dimmers, lasers and fog machines.

XLR Male to RJ45 DMX Adapter

This RJ45 to DMX adapter is designed for DMX lighting environments. It features a DMX 3-pin or 5-pin connector on one end and a RJ45 connector on the other end. Adapts any 3 pin DMX to RJ45.

The diagram below shows how to wire an ESTA standard DMX RJ45 plug to a LOR RJ45 plug.

DMX Test Connector

A DMX test connector can be build with two resistors 270 Ohms and two standard LEDs. The test connector must be a MALE connector.

A DIN connector is an electrical connector that was originally standardized in the early 1970s by the Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN), the German national standards organization. A DIN connector encompasses several types of cables that plug into an interface to connect devices.
